"En general se toma como guía el Tesauro de la Unesco. Cuando ha sido necesario se han modificado alguna de sus relaciones (alternativas de sinónimos y de la relación UP o USE) o se han incorporado las de otros tesauros. En el caso de términos extraídos de otros tesauros u obras de referencia, y que no han sido integrados con los del Tesauro de la Unesco, se ha anotado sólo la fuente. Los términos que aparecen unidos por el asterisco por ejemplo Historia*Argentina deben interpretarse como Historia argentina.

U.S. Agency for International Development Thesaurus

"In addition to subject coverage, the Thesaurus contains descriptors for many USAID management concepts and for other topics of special concern to USAID. Proper names (with the exception of a few USAID program names) do not appear in the Thesaurus, nor do geographic names below the country level. The organization of the concepts in the USAID Thesaurus is not intended to reflect USAID's programmatic divisions.

UNESCO Thesaurus

"The UNESCO Thesaurus is a controlled and structured list of concepts used in subject analysis and retrieval of documents and publications in the fields of education, culture, natural sciences, social and human sciences, communication and information. Continuously enriched and updated, its multidisciplinary terminology reflects the evolution of UNESCO's programmes and activities. The first edition of the Thesaurus was released in English in 1977, with French and Spanish translations in 1983 and 1984. The second revised and restructured version was released in 1995.

United Nations Bibliographical Information System Thesaurus

"The multilingual UNBIS Thesaurus contains the terminology used in subject analysis of documents and other materials relevant to United Nations programmes and activities. It is multidisciplinary in scope, reflecting the Organization’s wide-ranging concerns. The terms included are meant to reflect accurately, clearly, concisely and with a sufficient degree of specificity, matters of importance and interest to the United Nations.

UK Archival Thesaurus

"UKAT is a subject thesaurus which has been created for the archive sector in the United Kingdom. It is a controlled vocabulary which archives can use when indexing their collections and catalogues. UKAT was created between June 2003 and August 2004 from subject terms contributed by individual archives, archive projects and users of archives. The backbone of UKAT is the UNESCO Thesaurus. However, while UNESCO covers a broad range of subject areas, it often lacks the depth of detailed terminology required by archives for indexing.

Thesaurus for Use in College and University Archives

"The approximately 1,300 terms in this thesaurus come from many sources; before weeding, there were nearly 5,000 seed terms that originated in several existing controlled and uncontrolled vocabularies. A few terms have been added by the editor to fill obvious omissions in the hierarchy, and reference has been made both to the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) thesaurus and to Helen Willa Samuels’s Varsity Letters for enlightenment and clarity, although neither of these sources was incorporated.

El Tesauro SPINES, elaborado en el marco del programa intergubernamental de cooperación en el campo de la información científica y técnica, fue concebido como instrumento clave de un sistema internacional de intercambio de información."

"El objetivo de un tesauro es reunir la terminología utilizada en una disciplina o en una parcela de la misma. Es en este momento cuando debemos mencionar la complejidad que entraña la elaboración de un tesauro de Urbanismo, dada la naturaleza de esta disciplina. El Urbanismo como ciencia multidisciplinar forma su corpus teórico a partir de las disciplinas que comienzan a estudiar los problemas urbanos y territoriales desde sus diferentes perspectivas. El resultado es una serie de conocimientos de muy diversa naturaleza unidos por el denominador común de la ciudad y el territorio.

"The purpose of a thesaurus is to gather the terminology used in a discipline or a portion of it. It is at this moment when we should mention the complexity involved in the development of a thesaurus of Urbanism, given the nature of this discipline. As a multidisciplinary science forms its theoretical corpus from the disciplines that begin to study the urban and territorial problems from their different perspectives.The result is a series of knowledge of very diverse nature united by the common denominator of the city and the territory.
