"Asiasanat ovat aina substantiiveja: joko yksittäistermejä, sanaliittoja tai yhdyssanoja. Asiasanat ovat joko yksikkö- tai monikkomuodossa. Yksikössä ovat abstrakteja käsitteitä ja toimintaa kuvaavat sanat. Monikossa ovat yleensä konkreettisia, laskettavissa olevia käsitteitä merkitsevät sanat. Termeillä voi olla yksikössä ja monikossa eri merkitys, jolloin molemmat muodot esiintyvät sanastossa (kielioppi - kieliopit). Asiasanaston laatimisessa on noudatettu suomenkielisen tesauruksen laatimis- ja ylläpito-ohjeita (SFS 5471).

"The AAT is a structured vocabulary currently containing around 131,000 terms and other information about concepts. Terms for any concept may include the plural form of the term, singular form, natural order, inverted order, spelling variants, scientific and common forms, various forms of speech, and synonyms that have various etymological roots. Among these terms, one is flagged as the preferred term, or descriptor. There may be multiple descriptors reflecting usage in multiple languages. Preferences for individual contributors may differ and are noted.

Er verzeichnet zur Zeit 28.877 historische Berufsnamen aus Leichenpredigten und sonstigen Trauerschriften in hessischen, sächsischen, schlesischen und thüringischen Bibliotheken und Archiven, die in den Katalogen der Forschungsstelle für Personalschriften erfasst wurden. Da die ausgewerteten Sammlungen nicht nur Leichenpredigten aus denjenigen Regionen enthalten, in denen sie sich befinden, erschliesst die Datenbank den gesamten deutschsprachigen Raum der Frühen Neuzeit.

Les PACTOLS sont un thesaurus géré par le programme FRANTIQ. Ils servent à interroger le catalogue collectif indexé (CCI) et d'autres bases externes."
